Well, here we are starting our new venture...Mexican food... The owner spent a fair bit of time in Mexico living with his friend's family...he learned a lot about Mexico and her people but there is still so much more to learn...
Along the way, he did learn that Mexico is second in the world for food diversity....second to china...so, where is all this great food? Well, it is in all the places that tourists never go...into the little towns, or the central states, or at weddings, fiestas, Catholic traditions, or at home with the family. He came across foods that have a history longer than Canada has been a country. One salsa, Mole, was first made in the 1600s, Canada first became a country with Sir John A. Macdonald in 1857. Even today, Mole is as strong in Mexico as it was hundreds of years ago, served on special occasions, specifically Christmas.
So, why are we rambling?...Well, food and the arts are what culture is based around......and Mexico has so much more food and culture than most people realises. Our goal here at Orale is to introduce not only a wide variety of Mexican food but to expose who Mexico really is...her people, customs, culture, traditions, anything that we think is interesting....Lets start with our name, Orale...Orale is a typical Mexican slang to express extreme enthusiasm.
If you have any tidbits of information or any requests for food items please email us
here.
So, to start our business off with the right direction we have some awesome taco fillings for you to try...these can be basic dishes that you might find in a typical Taqueria (a restaurant that sells tacos)...or something your Abuela (grandmother) would make for a picnic. And try the Mole...it is a great salsa.
Our Mission
Orale's mission is to introduce classic, traditional, and typical dishes from Mexico. We wish to inform Canada about Mexico, her people, customs, history, and food diversity.
The first thing you may notice is that Orale takes a fun approach to the business...this is the first thing we learned from Mexico...have fun, laugh, never lose the inner child, and always be there for each other.
Company Profile
hummm....How do we describe ourselves and the company? Well, I guess the best way to describe us is through our food...you see, after years of practice we discovered that Mexican food just doesn't work unless you use the freshest, vine-ripened vegetables (if all the vegetables grew on a vine this would be great)...fresh! is the key to the rich flavours and colour.
Mexican food is also quite labour intensive...most of it is stewed or slow roasted but it is the prep that takes forever...a pain in the you-know-what really but the end results are so good.
So, I guess that is how we will describe our selves...fresh vegetables that are a pain in the...
